Yanks Sweep Sox, Right the Universe

I just put my broom away after celebrating the Yankees’ four game sweep of the Red Sox, culminating in a 5-2 defeat of the BoSox last night.  Man, was that a good series.  Much needed, as well.  After starting 0-8 against Boston this season, the Yanks have now won four straight against their rival, drastically turning the tables on the Red Sox and sending Boston to 6.5 games out in the division.

The Yankees beat Boston the way George Steinbrenner would want them to, with the big acquisitions of the off-season coming up big.  AJ Burnett pitched a hell of a game against Josh Beckett on Friday in the 15 inning marathon and CC Sabathia had his best start of the season on Saturday against Clay BuchholzMark Teixeira hit the game-winning home run yesterday, going back-to-back with Johnny Damon after Victor Martinez‘s two-run homer of Phil Coke in the top half of the 8th gave Boston a 1-0 lead.

I like the way this season feels right now.  The rotation has been excellent, the bullpen has been strong, and the offense has come through when needed.  Even you, A-Rod.
